When an actor makes that big a comment about his take on acting, you know that something is definitely amiss!
After all, what is an actor for, if he does not enjoy the acting profession?
Despite being fully aware that this statement could sabotage his entire career and credibility as an actor, John Corbett chose to be honest, as he revealed exactly what he thinks of the profession that he is in.
The reason that John gives for being an actor is not a strong passion to act, or a longing desire for fame, but instead, it is something as simple as this – to pay the bills!
What!
He blatantly admits that since he does not have a college degree, it wouldn’t be possible for him to have a regular job. He tried his hand at one, which was a job at a steel factory, but could barely keep his head above the water, with an annual income of $20,000.
That was what ushered him into the acting profession, which was the only profession that paid hugely, without demanding anything more than an acting prowess and good looks.
He had both of them, and so, he took the plunge!
He now makes no qualms about ridiculing the silly jobs that he has, when he plays romantic heroes, and says that he would gladly quit the acting profession and spend the rest of his life doing nothing, if he had the money to do so.
But well, even if the actor says goodbye to the acting arena, we will always be able to download our favorite performances of him, on Northern Exposure.
As for those of you, who have developed an aversion towards the actor after hearing his callous comments, think of it this way – there are probably lots of other actors, who feel the same way as John, and who are in the profession just for the money that’s on offer.
But the difference is that, this is one man who dares to be honest about it!
