Janine Turner is an American actress and author who was bought up at Fort Worth in Texas. She was born to pilot Texans Turner and real estate agent Janice Gauntt. She is the younger of the two children and has an elder brother named Tim. As a child she trained in ballet, tap, theater, and modeling. She later moved to New York with her mother where she studied at New York’s Professional Children’s School. Here she was selected as a model at the young age of fifteen by the famous Wilhelmina Agency. However after doing some professional work she went back to her school in Texas. She dated former Chicago Cubs first baseman Mark Grace for sometime. She was also engaged to actor Alec Baldwin in 1993. She is a single mother and has an eleven year old daughter named Juliette Loraine Gauntt. She currently lives with her daughter on her ranch outside of Colleyville, Texas.

Janine’s acting career began when she bagged some minor work on various episodes of Dallas at the age of fifteen. She later moved on to play major roles in shows like General Hospital, Mike Hammer, Another World, Quantum Leap, Fatal Error, Knight Rider, Strong Medicine, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Friday Night Lights etc., besides playing the role of Maggie O’Connell in Northern Exposure. In addition she has worked in movies like Young Doctors in Love, Tai-Pan, The Ambulance, Cliffhanger, Leave it to Beaver, No Regrets and The Night of the White Pants etc. She has also acted in, edited, written, produced and directed the movie Trip in a Summer Dress. Janine is also an author who has written the book Holding Her Head High: Inspiration from 12 Single Mothers Who Championed Their Children and Changed History which was published in 2008. She has also been nominated for five different awards which include one Emmy Award nomination and three Golden Globe nominations and has also won the Young Artist Award for Best Young Actress in the Daytime Series for her role in General Hospital in 1983.
